This year, the Twinkling Star Christmas Market in Wiesbaden celebrates its 13th birthday. Whilst in Christmas market terms this a fairly new market, it is certainly wasting no time in setting its own traditions. Prepare yourself for an atmospheric pre-Christmas journey of discovery, a festival for the senses amidst craftsmanship and culinary delights from over 130 stall holders, as well as a varied programme of choral music and stage plays.

It is the festive and quaint atmosphere which characterizes the Twinkling Star Christmas Market. Created not only by the stands decorated in the city of Wiesbaden colors of blue and gold, but also by the unique location: the market is tucked between the impressive Wiesbaden Town Palace, which today houses Hessen’s Regional Parliament, and the imposing Market Church and the Town Hall, which is right beside the Old Town Hall. This perfect backdrop is crowned by a 30 meter high, elegantly decorated Christmas tree, adorned with the light of about 30,000 (environmental friendly) light-bulbs and approx. 1,000 blue and golden ribbons. There is also a  nativity scene complete with life-sized wooden figures and beautiful festive Christmas lights which include illuminated lilies from the city’s crest.

There is a lovely children’s railway and children’s bakery, in which young visitors can sample their self-baked Christmas biscuits straightaway. With mulled wine and a large selection of culinary delights, an inspiring meander through Wiesbaden’s Christmas Market with its wide range of Christmas goods and masterpieces of craftsmanship makes a delightful pre-Christmas outing. Discover a world full of artistic craftwork, ceramics and glass art as well as culinary treats and tempting rides.

To enjoy a very unusual view of the state capital hop on the Ferris wheel, which is erected on the Mauritiusplatz in the pedestrian zone: discover festive Wiesbaden from a height of 40 metres, and see more than 70 brightly lit lilies spread all over the pedestrian zone and Wilhelmstrasse. Simply stunning.
