Knut Festival

January 17

Christmas Eve Traditions in Germany

Celebrating the “Knut Festival” is a Swedish tradition to dispose of Christmas trees that are no longer needed. The CDU local committee of Kottweiler-Schwanden carries on this Swedish tradition and organizes a “Knut Festival”. Visitors are invited to bring along their old Christmas trees without any decorations between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. For each delivered tree a Glühwein (mulled wine) or non-alcoholic punch can be obtained for free. Your tree can also be picked up in front of your house if you call us by January 15 at 06371-58286. On the village square trees will be piled up and burned down from at 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Food and beverages are available.
