Charcoal Festival in Sippersfeld
May 30 - June 8Free
The traditional charcoal festival awakes memories of charcoal burning in times past. To keep the tradition of charcoal production alive, the festival is hosted every other year. On Thursday, Mai 30 at 10 a.m. the event will be opened with a church service in the woods. Then the charcoal pile will be lit and burned down by experts. On Saturday, June 8, after eight days of supervision, the charcoal will be revealed and it comes to light, whether the professionals did a good job. During the festival days beverages and culinary dishes such as ham hock, salmon and a lot more are offered. Join-in activities and demonstrations are provided. Furthermore the fest features a diversified entertainment program including an outdoor-cooking-workshop, stage performances, games, music, comedy as well as crafting and other activities for children. School classes and kindergartens are cordially invited to come and visit the charcoal pile as part of a class outing. Admission is free. For more information go to www.ramstein-gateway.com
