Outdoor Swimming in the Stuttgart Area


It’s time to get outside and enjoy the great summer weather. If you live in the Stuttgart Military Community then you are lucky enough to have several outdoor bathing options to choose from. Germany simply loves outdoor pools and lakes and, if you dare to bare, there’s lots with separate nudist areas too – so choose carefully!

So, go pack a picnic and get the kids ready. Here’s our list of open-air pools around our US military community in Stuttgart – many of them are actually natural spring pools – so go find one near you and enjoy!

Freibad Inselbad Untertürkheim

The outdoor family pool has a 10m diving tower, 90m slide and a diving board with a separate diving pool. Additionally, there is a lap pool, a baby wading pool, basketball & volleyball courts, a children’s playground and more. Also available is a nudist area with sun loungers as well as separate showers and toilet facilities.

Schwimmbad Höhenfreibad Killesberg

The multi-purpose pool features a jumping platform, wading pool for adults and kids, a non-swimmers pool, a baby pool, basketball & volleyball courts, table tennis, children’s playground and a barbeque area.

Freibad Möhringen

Möhringen outdoor facility is a multi-purpose heated pool with diving boards, children’s paddling pool and baby slide, multifunctional sports facility, a nudist area with extra showers and an outdoor terrace for lunch.

Freibad Rosental

The eight lanes outdoor pool with heated water is equipped with floor jets, bubble beds and massage beds. Additionally there is a 50 meter lap pool, a diving platform, a non-swimmer pool, and a warm baby pool. Recreational activities include volleyball, basketball and a mud playground for kids. A nudist area is also available for sunbathing and relaxing.

Freibad Sillenbuch

Sillenbuch is a family friendly swimming facility that has a large swimming pool for the more experienced swimmers as well as a non-swimmers area. In addition to the pool, there is table tennis, ping pong, a sunbathing area and more.

Sindelfingen Swimming Center

Sindelfingen is one of the largest outdoor swimming pools in Germany and is located approximately 20 minutes outside of Stuttgart. This outdoor center has in addition a 50 meter lap pool, diving platform, non-swimmers area, children’s wading pool, giant slide, large mushroom fountain spray for children and sand play area. Also available on the premises is an indoor pool and a sauna facility.

Freitzeitbad F3 Felbach

Over 1000m2 of large outdoor pools provide five 50-meter lanes for summer swimming plus a separate kids’ pool. Fun activities include water flowers, floor jets, slides, water cannons and much more. In the non-swimmer area there are water attractions such as a water slide and a children’s mushroom. Sports enthusiasts will find more than 5500 square meters of lawn, a volleyball court, a mini football field and two table tennis tables. Sun-seekers have the opportunity to work on your tan relaxing on the three sun-decks.

Freizeitbad Mineral-Bad Berg

Bad Berg includes two natural mineral water outdoor pools – one heated to 34 degrees celsius, a large open-air swimming hall, a solarium, kiosks, sauna area and a massage service.

Freizeitbad Mineral-Bad Leuze

The pool area has a swimmer’s pool with a water temperature of 30 degrees celsius. Also available are two other natural mineral water pools (20 and 24 degrees), a Kneipp basin (cold water), sports fields and playgrounds, as well as a heated separate baby-pool with a water temperature of 24 degrees.
